Do you have a home escape plan in place?
Protect your family by developing a method to escape in the event of a fire. Firefighters will provide assistance with mapping out a primary and secondary escape route. They will come to your home to offer suggestions and recommendations to prepare your family members for a fire and help ensure their safety.
Prevention and education are key components to keeping families safe from home fire. The Fire Departments of Enfield work in conjunction with the town’s public and parochial schools to improve the safety and well-being of children. In the fall of 2005, thanks to a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency U.S. Fire Administration, The Fire Departments of Enfield purchased a smoke trailer. The smoke trailer provides a hands-on educational approach to fire safety and disaster preparedness. This mobile training vehicle is used to educate children and seniors at schools, recreational centers, daycare and preschool programs, libraries, senior housing complexes, the Senior Center and at all neighborhood parks.
For more information about mapping your home escape or about the smoke trailer, please contact the fire department in your district.
